It soon became apparent that there were significant differences of opinion within Council as to the future of such applications and, having heard horror stories of long delays, difficult dealings with Council’s staff, etc, we were advised to use the services of a planning consultant to assist us in preparation of any application. We selected Hannah Thomson, principal of Planning Plus, following a recommendation from a mutual friend and, following a relatively brief meeting, it immediately became clear that Hannah had a very close understanding of Council requirements.
Then, in one site visit, and a “pre-application meeting” with Council, Hannah identified all the potential issues and prepared a 17-page application in which possible issues with its size, building separation distance and potentially sewerage issues were specifically addressed.
